Lithographs and prints

A lithograph is a high-quality print of an artwork, made in a limited number of copies that the artist signs. At Bemisgeret you'll find a large selection of lithographs by many artists, including Nachum Gutman, Menashe Kadishman, Motke Blum, Yosl Bergner and Yehudit Levin.

If you're looking for a specific lithograph, get in touch and we'll be glad to help.

Custom framing

We carry a very wide range of frames and acid-free mats, along with some more creative framing ideas. We do every kind of framing, including float mounting, box frames and framing between two panes of glass, and we fit the solution to what each customer needs. We choose top-quality materials and work only in wood, with frames made in Israel and frames imported from Italy.

Glazing: museum glass (UV-filtering) or anti-reflective glass. Come to the studio to look through the frames, or call us for advice by phone.

Custom mirrors

You can order a mirror made to your size and design, in the color and wood profile you pick from a large selection of special profiles imported from Italy.

Mirrors are rectangular or square with wood frames only, and we can't make a mirror without a frame. To order or get a quote, call 02-6714005 or send us an email.

Art restoration and repairs

If a piece of art you love needs repair, we can advise you and restore it, bringing back the life it lost over the years. We also restore the paint on frames, so ask us anything about restoring artwork or frames.

Textiles and decor

People have hung textiles on their walls since ancient times, because fabric makes a home feel warm. Modern printing has brought the idea back, with an endless choice of good prints. We stretch a piece of fabric over wood and it becomes a picture for the living room, the dining area or the bedroom.

It can be framed with or without glass, and you choose the fabric color, the size and the type of framing. We're happy to advise and answer any questions.

How it works

  1. Come in or call

Bring your piece to the studio at 29 Derech Beit Lehem, or call and tell us what you need. You can also message us on WhatsApp.

  2. Choose together

We lay frame profile, mat and glazing samples next to your piece until we find what suits it and your wall. Eti advises on the design side and Mouki on the technical side.

  3. Get a quote

The price follows what you chose, and you hear it before any work starts. You can swap a profile or the glazing and see how the price changes.

  4. We make it, you pick it up

Mouki makes the piece in the studio. How long it takes depends on the job, and we tell you when you order. Once it's ready, you collect it from the studio.

Common questions about framing, restoration, mirrors and the gallery

How much does custom framing cost in Jerusalem?

Our framing prices depend on the size of the piece, the frame profile, the mat and the type of glazing. The range is wide, with a plain, simple wood frame at one end and a decorative, expensive frame at the other, so it's hard to name a price without seeing the piece. Bring it to the studio in Baka, or give us the measurements by phone or WhatsApp, and we'll give you a quote. What you can choose from is explained on our custom framing page.

How long does picture framing take?

It depends on the job, since framing one print is nothing like framing a whole exhibition or building a special frame. We give you a date when you order. If you have a deadline, say a birthday present or a move into a new apartment, tell us at the start and we'll let you know whether we can make it. For exhibitions we work to the artists' and curators' schedule.

What's the difference between regular glass, matte glass, museum glass and Plexiglas?

Those are the four types of glazing we work with. Regular glass is clear and reflects light, while matte glass cuts down reflections. Museum glass barely reflects at all and filters out UV light, so the artwork doesn't fade. Plexiglas is lighter than glass and doesn't shatter the way glass does. Which one suits your piece depends on what's in it and on the light in the room, and we cover that on our custom framing page.

Can you frame an old or valuable piece of art?

Yes. For work like that we recommend conservation framing, which uses an acid-free mat that won't yellow the paper and museum glass that filters UV light to prevent fading. If the piece is already damaged, for example a tear in the canvas or mold on the paper, it's better to have it restored first and frame it afterward.

What is an acid-free mat?

An acid-free mat is the mat board around the artwork, made from material that contains no acid. Ordinary board gives off acid over the years and leaves a yellowish line on the paper, and an acid-free mat doesn't. We use only acid-free mats in the studio, even for a piece that will never go near a museum, because conservation framing is our default.

Do you frame for exhibitions and work with interior designers?

Yes. For exhibitions we frame to the artists' and curators' requirements and meet the opening date. Interior designers and architects come to us to match frames and mirrors to a project, and often to choose an original piece for a client from our art gallery. If you're working on a project, call 02-6714005 and we'll set a time to sit down and go over it.

Do you repair paintings and frames?

Yes, we restore oil paintings and works on paper, and we repair frames too. On an oil painting we can fix a tear or a crack, retouch the paint, restretch the canvas and remove varnish that has yellowed. On works on paper we treat mold and stains and mend tears, and on frames we replace missing parts and redo the gilding. We also replace broken glass and old mats. The details are on our painting and frame restoration page.

Can I order a custom-size mirror?

Yes, we make mirrors to measure, rectangular or square and always in a wood frame. The mirror glass is Belgian, and you choose the frame from solid wood profiles in a range of shades. We can't make a mirror in any other shape, or a mirror without a frame. For sizes and a quote, see our custom mirrors page or call 02-6714005.

What art can I buy at your gallery?

The gallery sells original paintings and lithographs, along with prints on canvas and serigraphs on wood. We have oil and pastel paintings by Esther Agasi Cohen, work by Adriana Nave and Merav Cohen Vanunu, soft pastels by Shahar Iluk and acrylic paintings by Shon Yermi. The lithographs are by Nachum Gutman, Moshe Castel, Yosl Bergner, Yehudit Yellin, Zina Roitman and Lea Avitzedek. You can see more on our art gallery page and our artists page.
